Why Buying A New Car Is Pointless

Car advertisements can be quite enticing. There is something very intriguing about a brand new car or truck. Driving around in a clean and pristine vehicle certainly has some perks. Many people are tricked into thinking that buying new is the best option when searching for a vehicle. In reality, there are more benefits to purchasing a used car than buying new. Car companies encourage customers to purchase new because they make more profit from their more recent models. However, buying used has some incredible advantages. Here are a few reasons why buying a new car is pointless.

1. They are more expensive.

New cars are significantly more expensive than used cars. This is perhaps the most obvious reason why purchasing a new car is pointless. People can get a better value for their purchase by buying used rather than new. New cars are overpriced because they are fresh from the manufacturers. There are people willing to pay more money to having a vehicle with zero miles on the odometer. However, there is more value to be found when buying used. Even with some minor damage, there are several used cars that offer more value for the same price than new cars.

2. There is more financial stress involved.

New cars carry a lot of financial baggage. Not only are they more expensive from the very beginning, but the maintenance costs are also higher. Used vehicles have been on the market for a longer period of time. As a result, spare parts are plentiful. Every repair shop has easy access to replacement bumpers, tires, doors and any other necessary part. On the other hand, replacements and repairs on a newer car is much more expensive. As a newer vehicle, there are fewer spare parts in the market. This makes car parts more expensive and harder to obtain. Repair shops will also charge more to perform the same service on a newer car, as opposed to a used car.

3. There is more information on the market.

New cars are a gamble as there is not much information available from previous users. There are several potential issues that can only be discovered through repetitive use. Nearly all major car manufacturers have had to recall at least one model because of a major malfunction. Buying used is a great way to avoid this issue as everything about older cars is already known. This level of insight also exists on an individual car level. Every registered vehicle has a history of wrecks, damages, tickets and more. All of this information is made public when an individual purchases a car. This is excellent insight when trying to buy the best vehicle.

4. New cars depreciate in value immediately.

Value retention is another advantage to buying used cars. The overall value of a new car is immediately diminished when it is driven off of the lot. Within seconds, a vehicle goes from being a new car to being used. The car market doesn't care if the vehicle is in pristine condition. A new car is instantly considered used the second that it has been purchased. For example, a used Chrysler 300 from 2017 may end up being the same price as a new 2018 model after it has been purchased and driven. Used cars don't suffer as much depreciation when they are purchased.

5. You can afford your dream car.

Everyone has a favorite care. Even people who don't have an affinity for vehicles tend to gravitate towards a particular model. Unfortunately, many people forgo their ideal car in order to purchase something that is more practical and within their price range. Instead of suffering from the price of new vehicles, you should focus on the used market. You have a much better chance of affording your dream car when buying used.

Conclusion

Buying a new car is pointless for many reasons. Buyers are better off purchasing used cars in order to save money and avoid immediate depreciation.
